Hello and welcome to my blog. I am April Ulmer, a pediatric gastroenterologist, also known as ‘The Tummy Dr.’ and my practice, Kids and Tummies, is scheduled to open this September. I like to describe myself as a physician who practices the art of “clinical medicine” with a “common sense” approach by treating each child and family as unique, and in a way that cares for and nurtures the “whole” child. In writing my blog, I hope to share some of my experiences and readings in my field both as a parent myself and as a doctor and provide actionable parenting tips in order to live happy, healthy lives. In addition, I wanted to provide my voice and insight to a wide range of topics regarding the diagnoses and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with disorders of the stomach, intestines, colon, liver, pancreas and nutrition.
